interroscarf

a question for the postmodernists out there

or maybe this is more Oulipian than postmodern, but anyway.

I had this idea where you would create a new play out of two existing plays. The first play remains the same, except that all of a main character's lines are replaced with lines from a character in another play.

I think that ideally there would be some kind of a relationship between the two parts -- for instance, perhaps play #1 could be 'Romeo & Juliet' and play #2 could be 'West Side Story', or you could do a mashup of 'Oedipus Rex' and 'Oedipus at Colonus'.

Has anyone ever done this? Was the play produced? How was it received?
